...I started my hot rodding journey a week before my 40th birthday.
After an extensive Dirt bike
and Motocross lifestyle plus decades of injuries.
I decided to hang up my motocross boots and fulfill a life long dream.
TO OWN A HOTROD !!
I decided to put my bikes up for sale and begin the hunt for my first hotrod.
The first bike sold within a few days and I had money in my pocket to purchase a car.
I found a 1929 Model A sedan in Middletown NY.
Which was about 4 hours away,
I made the trip out to look at the car, I purchased the car and rented a trailer at a local U-Haul to tow the sedan home.
The car consisted of a chopped body, sitting on a heavily butchered Model A chassis with a good 21 Stud Flathead w/ a 3 Speed and Model A banjo rear.
That was the beginning of this journey and life as a New England Hot Rodder.
Since starting the build on the 29 Sedan, I’ve met so many local Hot rodders, traveled all over picking. I've bought and sold several early Ford cars, trucks and parts lots.
After finding myself on The HAMB daily researching and looking at old photos.
I was able to meet several local guys close to me and I’ve made lots of incredible friends. Not to mention I’ve grown as a person and a hot rodder since that time.
My beautiful Girlfriend Alli has been right by my side, almost since the beginning.
She is a major supporter of mine and has become my picking partner , my cruising partner not to mention my biggest supporter of the YouTube channel.
"This Old Hotrod"
This Old Hotrod was a name I came up with after years of time spent in the garage, digging and removing layers off these old cars to reveal the history underneath.
I found myself saying the term and thought it would make for a great YouTube channel name.
Since the start of the channel in 2017 I really hadn’t posted much content.
That all changed when I purchased my 1930 coupe.
AKA " The Barrows Coupe"
I didn’t focus on videos and YouTube during the re-build in 2018 However I posted up the random video in order to share the videos to other places. Like H.A.M.B. and Facebook.
Things took a huge leap forward when I was fortunate enough to purchase my dream hotrod.
A 1934 Ford 5 Window Coupe. Now known as "The George Ryan Coupe"
I wanted to document the car, the recovery and the rebuild..
So I took my IPhone and a $10 iMovie app and recorded every step of the way... that’s when things got interesting.
Within a month after posting the retrieval video the channel took off.
People were viewing it all over the world, that first video I shot with my iPhone10 and the $10 app has almost 90K views as of Jan 2021
The channel has grown from 100 subscribers to over 4K subscribers and well over a million minutes of viewed media.
I have no plans of stopping...
I only have myself to hold me back...I've never done that in the past and I'm not about to start now.
Jump on over to YOUTUBE and hit that Subscribe Botton !!
Follow along while I bring these hotrods to life !
Mike.
